Away from here

See that empty chair, second from the left? In my mind, I'm there already.

Away from the endless 'discussion' on how to address my new in-laws with the most respect (nevermind my comfort level)

Away from the burst blood vessels on my eyelids from throwing up so violently (whoever said 'morning' sickness ends after the third month was DEAD wrong)

Away from the demands of needy customers and breakdowns of family members

Gone

MAMA MIA!

I don't think it's possible to fit much more into a weekend than I just did... From sneaking out of work early to run 4 or 5 wedding errands, celebrating my sister's beau's b-day, having a dress fitting, learning how to belly dance, helping a friend pick out a dress to wear to my wedding (and hitting the maternity store for a few goodies for me) and then attending a musical... whew! It's no wonder I'm wiped completely out.

With 13 days till the wedding, I'm getting into "get 'er done" mode... have my list and am checking stuff off as fast as I'm adding to it at the moment. B remarked to me while dropping me off tonight after Mama Mia (I will have ABBA songs stuck in my head the rest of the week!!) that I'm the calmest bride she's ever seen. "Well, I'm marrying the man of my dreams, what's there to sweat about?" came my reply.

The beauty rest, that's another thing completely. Goodnight, sweetie-pies :)

movin' on

I just deleted my house sitting blog. Now it's just me and Baby Sass.

If there is one thing you can count on in this life, it's change. And change is a good thing. Especially when it means not having to pack up all your stuff and move around every couple of weeks, looking after other people's stuff, in an attempt to avoid horrible roommates.

I've got stuff of my own to look after now, and a wonderful home to come home to.
We're looking at buying a house this year and really putting down roots. As much as I have become accustomed to (and embraced the idea of) moving around my whole life, this comes as a most welcome change. A place to call our own and to bring up baby. I like it!

Junes so soon

Oh my. The days (not so much the nights) are flying by lately. 34 days till I do!! The invites are out, the rsvps rolling in, the 'to do' list ever shrinking. It's a nice feeling to have pretty much everything under control, and that we're going to be able to pull this off just the way we want it. For about half of what the average Canadian wedding costs these days. It's still a huge chunk of cash, but it's not going to put us in major debt. For long. :)

In other news, my ever expanding belly is keeping me pretty occupied. Oh, and the boobs too- had to go out and get a larger bra (and it's just the beginning!!) but what a relief for the girls. Also picked up a nice second hand rocker- if I can only keep the cats/cat hair off it it'll be a nice addition to the nursery. When we're ready to set it up, that is. It'll mean losing my meditation/study room but that's ok- I'm working on a perma-state of Zen-ness so I can carry it around with me. The Buddha might get a little heavy.

bursting at the seams

I am in love with life lately.

I loved this past weekend, the running around doing errands for the wedding, finally finding the motivation to clean the house at 8 pm while my love worked on beautifying the yard. Sitting on the floor working on the invites with one of my closest friends, A and my future mother-in-law (who granted me permission to call her 'Mama' as her son does). Receiving two Super Soakers as a gift from my sister, and promptly lending them to my three precious nephews to go break in in the back yard, clad in kitchen garbage bags and huge grins.

Having the day off today to lounge in bed, watching pointless tv and eating my favourite cereal, a lovely surprise visit my future husband over lunch and a leisurely afternoon spread before me to run yet more wedding errands, discover my brother on Facebook and plan the next Goddess gathering (belly dancing)!

Yes, I'm just about as happy as happy can be, I see the light at the end of the morning sickness tunnel and I greet each coming day with cheerful expectation. Life is so good.

In other news, it's snowing

Seriously. Woke up to snow this morning. Already grumbling cause I had to go into work while the rest of the country slept (we observe Queen Victoria's Birthday here for some reason) it was quite a shock to the system to see the flurries outside the window. It's mostly gone now, although there could be some left up on top of the hill where we live. Hmmm. Mother Nature sure is out of whack.

She's not the only Momma feeling out of sorts. I am *almost* done with the first trimester, but my bouts of nausea have not let up. Kind of a bother while I'm trying to be the super multi-taking organizing queen that I usually am (work being crazy busy AND wedding planning non stop).

I am getting some stuff done, including a wedding website... (leave a comment if you want the link!)

3 days till my b-day...

I am marrying the sweetest man in the world

These arrived today:

The card reads "Sass, to the Mum to be! Love, your Husband to be"

Happy Sigh.

me: "Does this look like a tent?"

my love: "Would you like to wear something else?"

me: "You didn't answer the question"

Bloated and it's getting worse

Wow. 8 weeks today and I seriously can't get my skirt done up.

I had a different skirt on this morning that I *thought* was going to do the trick and the moment I sat down in the car to leave for work the zipper popped. Argh! Now here I am with my blouse pulled down over the top of my jeanskirt to try and hide the fact that it's undone. Sigh. Guess it's time to go maternity clothes shopping!

The weekend was a wonderful but exhausting blur of home spa-ing, running around making wedding plans and attending family dinners. I wish I could find the energy at the end of the day for all the laundry, cleaning and general tidying that the house deserately needs but mostly I just can't get back up once I hit that couch.

I need a sign to wear around my neck: Quiet, Please! Baby under construction!

Here's to hoping that the rumours of having more get up and go in the 2nd trimester are true...

back to me

Ahhh. I feel 'relatively' normal today, after a week of constant nausea. Just allowed myself the small treat of a cuppa joe with some hot chocolate mixed in. Mmm. It's really the little things, these days.

While I am usually all for the mind over matter theory concerning most things, this particular 'thing' has taken over my whole being. The more I read about the changes that are happening (and the ones still to come) the more fascinated (and somewhat unprepared) I feel. But I trust my body completely to do what it needs to do, my major responsibility now being to fuel it and give it enough rest and relaxation.

Started my pre-natal yoga class last night, in a room full of hugely expanding bellies. I felt like a bit of an impostor as I probably won't even begin to start showing until 2-3 months from now (hopefully *after* our big day). But it was fun to look around and see all of these glowing women in different stages, there was a wonderful ~excuse the pun~ expectant energy in the room.

I also feel wonderfully expectant of what is to come.

A wink and a smile

It's kind of strange to have our news 'half' out there. My Love's parents spend their winters down south in their motorhome, so we haven't yet had the opportunity to share their Grandparents-to-be status with them. I was greeted with the question "Sunday Lunch or Dinner?" upon my return home this evening as he propped the garage door open with one foot. "Dinner" I replied and gathered my various bags together which were strewn all over the front seat of the car. Ginger everything-I-could-find at the health food store- snaps, jam, ale. Plus my extra vitamins and oh so fashionable anti-nausea wristbands in dark grey. Also in tow, a bag full of clothing for the exchange on Saturday, a donation from a coworker.

Yes, another gathering of the Goddesses, and not a moment too soon. Need to send out an addendum to the invite "maternity clothes welcome". How my mom gigggled as she realized how futile it had been to mend my clothes, seeing as they won't be fitting me in a couple of months.

Progress on the Wedding front: a font and a willing (and so able) invitation designer at my disposal, a colour scheme chosen (periwinkle & navy blue), and phone calls put in to the caterer & photographer. We'll pull this all together, with style and grace. And a little life hiding under the empire waist.

I don't know what my problem with Monday is. Or maybe it's Monday that has a problem with me.
Luckily, tomorrow is my Friday as I am in a course for the remainder of the week.
Divine timing is what I call that.
It is part 2 of a course I started last year.

The major descriptor I have heard again and again from past participants has been "intense".
Hey, I feel ready for it, why not?

You might not hear from me for while.
I'll just be over here, processing.

Streamofconsciousnesscurious

I wonder how many calories I burned on my two hour (uphill) walk home yesterday?
I wonder why my nose bled twice today?
I wonder if we'll be able to figure out the new Mac we're getting next week (having always been PC people)
I wonder how many Goddesses are going to sign up for the spa party night?
I wonder how much of a refund I'm going to get on my taxes?
I wonder how my course is going to go next week and how much work I'll have to catch up on the week after?
I wonder why my period is three days late?
I wonder if I'll pass the motorcycle test this time?
I wonder what size of pants I'll be able to get into by track day?
I wonder if I'll be proposed to anytime soon?
I wonder why I care so much?

Wow. Now that's some food for thought.
Guten Appetit my sweet.

It's funny, you can't put a 'favourite' designation on your own photos in Flickr. I love this shot, and I loved this day, beginning to end.

Quite the adventure was had, with icy/slushy Canyons hiked, furry friends made and blossoming love ever growing, sprouting its green head through the quickly melting snowbanks.

Ah, love. And spring. And brand new sunglasses with which to peer out at the bright bright world.

Spring Clean

I have found myself glued to the computer tonight, as my poor love sleeps off the whiff he got of my bad influence earlier...

I'm making good use of my time, browsing the addictiveness that is Facebook

Uploading a ton of cute pics of my Nephews while going through my "linked by blog" folder when I decided that I'm loooong overdue for a little spring cleaning around here.

Of course I'm too lazy (and sleepy) at this point to actually *add* these links to my sidebar just yet, but here is my update so far for your reading pleasure:

1. Over at Tucova's , an American woman living in the Czech Republic captivates me with her writing style

2. I really need to finally fix Brea #1's link: http://daringtobe.com/

3. I find a *New* Brea to add, may I introduce Brea (#2)

4. I plan to de-lurk on one I always read from B#1's links: Desperate Sarah

6. I remember to finally add one of the other Sassy Girls out there I have been lucky enough to stumble upon

7. I have to add an old fave, Dick & Chick

8. and a legend, for good measure www.dooce.com

9. and one I believe will *become* a legend, Stella

Thank you ALL for inspiring me so much!

my thoughts on Love

In response to an e-mail from a girlfriend yesterday, describing her anxieties about meeting up with and hopefully re-igniting an old flame "Love is super scary, hey? Yikes.":

"I believe it is a choice you make, like anything in life. You can approach the situation with Love or Fear. My advice would be to let go of any expectation. Just let things happen & unfold the way that the Universe wants them to. Think only positive, happy, joyful thoughts about your reunion and progression of your relationship with him. Love shouldn't have to be scary, or difficult. Your attitude towards it will greatly influence the outcome."

Sometimes I feel like I sound like a fortune cookie.

Has anyone seen Robin?

I have barely lifted my nose from this grindstone in the past two weeks, I am surprised there is anything left of my poor sensitive schnautz!

It's been pretty much non stop here, which is exciting at the same time as exhausting- I'd like to incorporate more of a balance (and more trips to the gym) to save my sanity.

Spring is slowly showing signs of arrival, and not a moment too soon! I have motorcycles motorcycles motorcycles on my brain (when it's not full of work stuff) and I can't wait to wrap my legs around my SuZuZuki for the first time.

So much to look forward to- the first anniversary of our very first date, a baby shower, a stagette/rafting extravaganza weekend, there is a lot of celebration in the air.

Now to take some time and smell the flowers. Peace out.

sweet sweet sweet home

To be reunited with my love, my bed, my pillow, my butterfly ring.

Sigh.

I'm so very happy to be back to this place that makes so much sense to me.

Still sorting out the multitude of thoughts & experiences from the past 5 days but have been thrown back into work today full force... when my head stops spinning I'll get around to a summary (and some pics).

Donnerstag, März 15, 2007

The Center of the Universe

It's quite indescribable, this place.

I mean, even if I had a thousand words, it just wouldn't quite cover it.

It's more a place you have to discover on your own. On foot. By Taxi. With the subway. Get right in and mix with the people. Once you get with the flow (which took me about a day), you flow.

Out exploring last night, I stumbled across a team shooting a scene for the Sopranos in Little Italy. I quickly occupied the table on the street and watched the action close up.

More details to come...

from en route yesterday...

I’m partway through the first leg of my first business trip ever, the connecting flight has been delayed by about 45 minutes and this double vodka soda with a splash of cranberry is going down a little *too* easy. I was up, as I expected to be, till a little after midnight last night as I made my last minute piles here and there. Carry-on stuff on the kitchen table (with frequent ‘helpful’ reminders from my Love ‘Got your passport? Your ticket??’), clothes etc piled up on the creamy couch in my meditation room.

Which hasn’t exactly been used for its intended purpose in awhile now, has it? Well, besides the 5 or 10 minutes Saturday morning, before I set out on my hair colour changing new wardrobe buying day. Yes, the mane is now somewhere between a deep red and ‘toffee’ brown, taking a little detour on its way back to my natural dirty blonde.

I was definitely in my giddy-excitedness phase last night, as I giggled my way around the house preparing for the week ahead. I have not gotten all that far in my preparedness, to be truthful, although I did manage to read through all 10 of the short descriptions of the different neighbourhoods of the City and have mentally short-listed the attractions I most want to see. There is some extra sight-seeing time to be had, and I intend to squeeze every drop of it out.

As for the actual shows, that will have to be left up to whatever catches my eye at the half price ticket place. I’m pretty open to whatever is playing- just the act of getting to go and see a show has my adrenalin pumping.

Am I prepared for the bustling busy-ness, the noise, the crowds, the EVERYTHING? The answer? Absolutely.

calm after the storm

... has been reached. Laundry sorted, house clean, walk taken, chili cooked and eaten. The Mama's back at her abode, settling in and setting up visits with friends. It's a good sign. I'm feeling quite settled myself, all systems go once I print my ticket, pack my bag and call the cab for the airport. I LOVE trips, just love them. Being away from my love until Sunday night (the day which marks 11 months of our blissed-out togetherness) will be challenging. But I am fully confident that the sweet reunion at the end will be well worth the time apart.

I've been waiting three whole years for this chance. To be a professional and go show them what I'm made of. I have the feeling I'm gonna absolutely dazzle them. And then some. Cause that, my friends, is how I roll. Hee. NY here I come!!!

Freitag, März 09, 2007

THIS is Friday?

I'm afraid to check my blood pressure cause I'm SURE it's off the charts.

It started with the chattering of the old biddies in the ladies only section of the gym. I don't know WHY exactly (I'm usually quite a tolerant person) but their endless nattering completely got on my nerves at 7 am. Then, the kitties, who got a tiny taste of the great outdoors yesterday when the door blew open while the Mama and I were on our daily jaunt around the block HAVE NOT STOPPED meowing since. My network connection with work is not happening, I already added bailey's to my coffee and that didn't help either.

Sigh.

It's later now, much later and I have somewhat regained my composure. Not without words being said in a *tone* that I wish I could take back. What was that about nerve cells being the only ones in the body that don't regenerate? What IS it about being around our parents (and PMSing in the WORST way) that regresses our behaviour by 15 years???

Fish. The answer is fish. Preferably raw.

signs of life

The days are marching on (pun? intended), the healing progressing, as is my ability to function in my home office atmosphere. It's still a little strange to roll out of bed and log on 5 minutes later (in fact, I'm STILL in my snowman pyjama pants).

It wasn't till halfway through the morning that I realized that today is my best friend's birthday. Thank goodness for e-cards because I have shamefully 'misplaced' the area of my brain which has stored her phone number for the past 10 or 15 years. Oh my.

Have I even mentioned that I'm going to NY next week? Like, a week from today I will be on a plane!! Wow. Probably cause it hasn't fully sunk in for me yet. Anyway, my company will be putting me up for four nights but I'm on my own for the fifth. Anyone have any *inexpensive* suggestions for where to lay my weary head? I'm attending an event at the NYC Center for Architecture that day, so somewhere relatively close would be good...

Freitag, März 02, 2007

I'm here

But I feel kinda weird. Disjointed, I think, is the best way to describe it. Other than the fact that it's almost 5pm and I'm sitting here in my dressing gown... Started the 'working from home' experiment today and I must say it has gone pretty well. Juggling the customer phone calls with the ones from friends and family for the Mama, administering pain medication and answering the door for the flower delivery. Negotiating sales between keeping the fireplace going and serving soup, juice and toast. Whew! No wonder this multitasking Goddess hasn't changed out of her pj's yet.

I think I'll call it a day soon. More of this fun next week!

the truth

Prints available for order here

I'm a pearl on a leaf

It's been a blur of hospital walls and the slick road home for the past week. The Mama's surgery is done, and she is taking the first baby steps towards recovery. Seeing as she may be released today, I have stayed home this morning to prepare for her arrival. It is my mission (and I have chosen to accept it) to house and care for her for the next little while.

The biggest challenge, I suspect, will be to keep her occupied and prevent her from doing any activity that is going to strain her. That's a tall order for a woman who is bored sitting still for any amount of time. I bought the biggest crossword puzzle book I could find and have recorded a bunch of shows for her to watch... but I have the feeling they'll both get old really quick. Ideas, anyone?

unmentionable mentionables

I'm struggling, iifs.

I'm struggling with telling you stuff, opening up, letting out my innermost thoughts and secrets.

I don't know what I'm afraid will happen.

I mean, what do you care if I tell you I took a two hour lunch break and had two raspberry stolis and sodas with a girlfriend whose life has been recently turned upside down?

Who are you going to tell if I let it slip that my good friend the treat provider finally returned my call after a month and a half to let me know he has left the province, but was so kind as to leave the number for a replacement?

That the gift I gave my love to celebrate our 10 months of blessed togetherness was actually recycled from my Christmas stocking of two years ago? (Plus a genuine list of top 10 things I love about him).

That the 19 dollars left in my bank account before I went and withdrew another 50 to pay for our alchohol-laden lunch are all I had left?

*Exhale*

I feel curiously better now. Thank you, that is all.

Everything/Alles was ist

Alternate title:

A Princess needs a Throne (but not a Tiara)
Like a Dog needs a Bone
~I need your love~

***A Valentine's Tribute to the Force that Moves Me***

Love is never fearful or scared
The quickening hearbeat exclusively due to the sweet anticipation of
a kiss
a glance
oh! an embrace

Love IS
It breathes
It flows
It is sheer joy
Pure Soul.

It's baking sheets
and coloured jars

It's shiny beautiful matching rides

It's high
It's low

It's that soft place to land
It always follows through

It's folding
It's teasing
It's both being a player
and being played

It's strong and it's tough
Made of indestructable stuff

It's Right and It's Hot
it softens the jaw

It's Bubbles and Waves
The Cycle of the Moon
Stars of course Stars

It's Freedom and Safety
rolled into One
Comfort, Wisdom and Grace

Everywhere

It's giving and giving and giving some more
Whilst your cup overflows with continuous joy

In the wee small hours
I know that It's there

When Fingers get chopped
And the Well it runs dry
When the bumps and lumps of life's journey
Leave you downtrodden,
thirsty, disheveled or bruised

Love wraps you up and guides you through

Yes, Love is the Force that moves me
Share! Shine! Glow!

And I realize it's for her

Love is all around me.

There are two framed black and white pictures positioned on either side of my desk, one of each set of Grandparents. Oma Elisabeth and Opa A perched on the front bumper of a shiny VW Bettle, she with humid bangs curling up on her forehead, smiling shyly as he grins adoringly, and leans closer on my right.

George and Peggy B on the left, sitting back on the rocks. She leaning back onto him with her Rockette legs crossed daintily and the *perfect* pair of shoes on.

I realize fully that with her, I've lost the last remaining Grandparent.

So I bring the recently recovered, recently donated (by my love's gracious Ma & Pa) antique chair into my lair, and the poem begins...

Watch out, here she comes!

I flip over the 'bad cat' calendar that we have pinned up next to the computer (oh, how I *love* doing that!) and find a picture of a kitty with huge heart shaped sunglasses and a pink Feather boa on with the caption

"I used to be a bit of an introvert, but I got over it"

and I smile to myself, as this is so appropriate for this moment.

I've just come home from a workshop and a quick visit with the fam to collect my little plant slips that have been living on my sister's window sill since I moved out in October. Wow, it's been five months already, how it does fly by when life is so blissful.

The workshop was put on by Aman, the man behind the yes, you can change the world website and book, and my mind is busy processing the information I learned and thinking of how I will apply it to my daily life.

I embarked on this spiritual quest quite early on, dabbling in all kinds of positive thinking books, groups and activities. Meditation has become more and more of a regular part of my routine, especialy now that I have my very own space to practice.

The different cleanses I have done are also a part of the journey, a 'purification' of sorts of body as well as mind. It is all connected (as is the state of my room) to how balanced and at peace I feel with the world and my surroundings.

One of the messages of today that has stuck with me is the idea of being "authentically optimistic" as opposed to simply thinking positively. Being absolutely authentic, true to yourself, embracing your weaknesses while your strengths naturally grow and shine. This insight struck a chord in me and has led to some rather deep soul searching since leaving the centre this afternoon.

I seem to do the best enlightened navel gazing whilst lounging in my comfy clothes (in this case a sports bra, my fuzzy v-neck sweater, fleece pj pants and my brand new faux-lambswool flip flops), drinking gin & juice, munching on jelly bellies and listening to internet radio. Giving myself permission to just BE, and just be ME.

The fish awaits a-fryin', the pictures await a-framin', my love will await his back scratchin' but not now. Now is time be alone and peaceful with my thoughts, my dreams and my own bad *newly discovered* extroverted self.

Bring it OUT!

lean on me

The Goddesses are gathering tonight, and I am so glad.

I could really use some of their support, some of their strength to lean on.

It has been a tough couple of weeks for my family, with my mom's diagnosis and then my grandma passing away on Monday. She was a beautiful, independant woman, and I will miss her.

Tonight, we have invited some pampering queens into the nest, and we will relax, enjoy each others company as our fingers, toes and faces get all pretty. Well, prettier than they already are.

The timing couldn't be better.

N is for nausea

Which is how I'm feeling this morning. Not really sure what could be causing it other than missing my high blood pressure pill yesterday... I have been on another cleanse of sorts, cutting out sugar and wheat and most things processed. The first week went great, until it was interrupted by the overindulgence that was Vegas. Back at it on Tuesday, but the cravings returned tenfold. I think I've got them back under control for now and am shifting my focus to working out (now that I'm done with physio on my calves) and mmm protein shakes. My acupuncturist is trying out B12 shots to increase my metabolism and I am all for being a guinea pig. My energy is definitely UP, I just have to get myself to the gym and start sweating!

The daffodils I picked up at the supermarket yesterday are all in bloom and smiling happily at me beside the orchids next to my desk. They smell nice and spring-like even if we do have about three months to go till it actually hits outside. And if I keep going at this plan, I'll have the body to match! Better get bzz bzz busy.

hnt socks

Not much Nekkidness this week, in fact I'm fully dressed and then some (it's bloody COLD here, -25 C/-14 F). This was taken Christmas day, as I celebrated for the first time with my love's family. Their rule is $10 and under for presents, and it has to be something useful. I *heart* my new socks, thanks Tita Laura!

Vegas Baby

Back from the surprise
(of her life)
Back from the opulence
bling bling bling
Back from the overindulgence
buffet anyone?
Back from the trips
shopping that is
Back and it's still cold
brrrrr
Back to my Love
waiting between the sheets
Back but so glad I went
there was NO other place to be
Back to the cleanse
hello cravings
Back and it continues

Life on all its wonderful levels

The Original Goddess

It has been really difficult for me to write lately. On Monday night, we found out that my mom has been diagnosed with Cancer. There are so many feelings hitting me now- shock, anger, fear, disbelief and back again. But still there is the deep knowing that she is a strong, positive being and she will get through this.
She is currently on a trip to Vegas that was planned with her friend for their birthdays (hers is today, Happy Bday, Mom!) before she got the diagnosis. She decided to go anyway, and as soon as my sister and I received the news our first thoughts were 'we have to go down there too'. So we're booked on a flight tomorrow night and we are going to surprise her! (Luckily she doesn't know about this blog, or what a blog is for that matter, so I'm pretty safe sharing my secret with you, IIFs).

Please send your most positive thoughts for a sucessful treatment and speedy recovery for her. Thank you.

Their encore was 'Closer To Fine' and as I sat and sang along I felt very moved, as I often to in that sanctuary. Time has been on my mind a lot lately, how it seems to vanish through our fingertips like fine sand. A strong gust of wind and this week is gone.

It's quiet here in the house tonight, my love is spending time with friends 'geeking out' as he jokingly (or maybe not so jokingly) put it. I sit here with my Christmas Eve tea (an interesting mix of spearmint, orange peel, clove, cinnamon and vanilla), uploading pictures ironically from Christmas Eve this year, pondering the memories we made seemingly in a flash that night.

There is a peaceful loving calm inside my heart, the kind that comes from a dose of meditation, the acupuncture needle placed on my third eye at noon, the deep knowing that with each passing day, I AM closer to fine.

New Randomness

Thanks, K!

In the year 2007 I resolve to:
Get an invisible friend.

Get your resolution here.

I love it.

Direct. To the point.

Greetings and Salutations for the New Year! Hmmm 2007... what deliciously delectable trouble can I get into first?

The last 9 days of the year were absolutely full to overflowing with culinary overindulgences, Quality Family Time, and a new addiction: the Kieferness that is 24. I'm 11 episodes into the first season and totally hooked... if it weren't for sleeping and this job thing, I'd be watching non stop. Crazy I tell you.

There are few things I heart more than that start to a new year. I have a burst of energy and creativeness that begins with the opening of a new calendar (and a new pack of crayola markers) and am busily planning not only our housewarming but also the first Goddess gathering of 2007.

If you are in or around Cowtown and interested in either, drop me a line!

Oh, and a thought to ponder for y'all:

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love. There's nothing you can do that can't be done. Nothing you can sing that can't be sung. Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game It's easy. There's nothing you can make that can't be made. No one you can save that can't be saved. Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. There's nothing you can know that isn't known. Nothing you can see that isn't shown. Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be. It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. All you need is love (all together now)All you need is love (everybody) All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

Let that be stuck in your head, the whole year through.

Christmas Cheesiness

Thanks, Tobes!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
BOTH. But not mixed.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Oh, they're wrapped. With pretty bows.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Either/or, as long as they're not those blinking ones.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Damn! I knew I was forgetting something...

5. When do you put your decorations up?
This year it was just before American Thanksgiving, I wanted the house to look pretty when I had both our families over for dinner

6. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
The anticipation waking up Christmas morning. One year I got a Care Bear (Tenderheart) and I cried all morning

7. When did you find out the truth about Santa?
Very late- I was about 11! Still playing with Barbies, too...

8. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yes, several. We have a celebration (it's the German thing to do) at my Dad's that night with sauerbraten and knoedel. mmmm.

9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
With Angels, I collect them

10. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Developed a special appreciation for it living at Emerald Lake.

11. Can you ice skate?
Of course! Going to the pond in Canmore next week... Wanna come?

12. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Besides Tenderheart? It's Vincent. I get to pick him up tomorrow :)

14. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Butter Tarts

15. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Inviting people who have no place to be last minute to come and share in our festivities. Last year it was my sister's friend Craig (in the middle)

16. What tops your tree?
An angel. Used to be a cardboard star covered in tinfoil that we made at Brownies.

17. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Both. My family would tell you I'm always the first to ask "are we gonna open the presents now??"

18. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
O Holy Night

19. Candy Canes?

G'bye Jules, HELLO Vincent

Never before have I felt so poor and so rich in the same moment.

The scene: the food court at the mall. We had just come from signing papers which effectively handed Jules back to her maker (or taker-aparter, as the case now is) and had me named the new owner of the newly named Vincent. The butterflies had fluttered so high inside me I was afraid they would escape through my mouth should I attempt to open it. This made it pretty impossible to even remotely entertain the idea of eating. My love picked up some sushi and we settled in a semi private table towards the back corner, away from the snowflake light and sound display.

I needed to be tucked away, sheltered from the crowds of shoppers all around, not wanting them all to bear witness to my unravelling. I knew it was coming, the emotion so thick it was all I could do to look my love in the face and muster a smile. "Don't you want anything?" he asked gently. "Does frozen yoghurt count as dinner?" I answered.

'Insufficient funds' the debit machine read at the grocery store earlier that evening. Rock bottom hit hard. I thought back over the past week or two and mentally added together my purchases. Stamps, a few Christmas presents here and there, Contacts, Physio... "That's weird" I say, and hand the cashier my poor beat up visa.

Then off to the mechanics we go, to figure out the car 'situation'. Through a series of unfortunate mishaps and miscommunications, not only have I not been able to drive my Jules for the past week, but she is now being forced into early retirement. But, as the universe has decided to smile on me this year, a solution of grand proportions unveiled itself.

A short test drive and a few documents trading hands and POOF! I'm upgraded to a 4 year younger, 6 V stronger feat of German engineering. All thanks to my very own personal Santa Saviour Man, aka Love of my Life.

So there I sit in the metal food court chair and realize I don't even have enough coins left in my purse (or to my name) to purchase the Fruz. Tears of frustration and shame start to well up in my eyes as he takes my trembling hands in his. "Hey", he says softly "we're in this together".

And I accept and believe it. Take a deep breath, tuck the two fives he has layed discreetly on the table into my pocket, and get myself fed. I'll get him back and I've got his back. AND, I'll even let him drive. Every once in awhile.

HNT - the slit

Yes, I'm having as much fun as it look like here, on my 5th martini or so before fondue dinner. I LOVE these boots (even more so now that I got those non-slip pads for the insides) and it took me about 2 months to finally find them.

Cheers! And happy holidays!!

year in rear view

I saw this on a few otherblogs and thought it was an interesting idea (and I think I have done it before as well, but used the first sentence of the first post of the month).

Here, for your amusement, the first sentence of the last post of the month, 2006:

Jan: ... sure, some might say it's getting down to the wire here, but I say I'm just gettin' this party started!

Feb: What a rush it has been... I'm not ready to let go of love month just yet.

Mar: It seems my April fool's has begun a little early.

April: Sitting at the end of my peanut butter and jam packed weekend, wishing there was some way of injecting just a few more hours into it... not believing that it's over already.

May: The Goddesses Gathered for the second time, at the lovely home/studio of Goddess Siren

June: Hotels I have worked in Honey I call my love Hungry for some free timeto Hang out away from here Hardly just beginning Humming a Happy tune Harmony in all things Hugely indebted to you

July: Oh, am I ever a grumpy back-to-work person today, on a Monday of all days.

August: ... so, um, what do you do when you get to the bottom? (Learning to pole dance)

September: Another Friday, another good mood!

October: Update(d) Update Pumpkin: Purchased, yet not carved

November: I love getting Henna'd

HNT - Behave!

Imagine my surprise when I get a one word e-mail from my boyfriend yesterday afternoon with this image attached (victim's identity has been concealed for his protection). "Remember?"

Um, no. Sorry, honey. I have no recollection of this being taken OR who this is! Ooops.

Feed 333 org

Besides the decorating, baking, shopping, etc. going on this time of year, 'tis also the season to think about the less fortunate. The ones who struggle on a daily basis to get by, to feed themselves and their families.

I came across this site, started by a woman with an idea, a vision, to do something to help.

Please check it out:

(I haven't seen it yet but happen to know that it's gonna be in my stocking)

mmm that was fun

safe bananas

We had a very exciting day at work today. Our bulk order of banana guards arrived, and hilarity ensued.

Mine is glow-in-the-dark. Cause, you know, you never know when you're gonna be looking for your banana in the dark!

8 more work days, then I'm off for 10!

I love my job and my colleagues, bt I also love having some *extra* paid time off to relax, hang out with family, and get a head start on my 2007 reading list.

Sassy Girl & her Love
Over the Moon, N.W.
Cowtown, AB
XOX-OXO

This is what my address labels look like (well, sorta, you get the general idea) for the Christmas cards I am going to send out next week.

I was reflecting on where I am right now in life and I realized that I can finally call myself a traveller on that 'path' I have been referring to all this time. Whenever I was asked about how things were going in the past, this would be my generic response. "I feel I'm headed in the right direction to be on the path I want to be".

Well, gentle readers, the time has arrived. We ARE the ones we have been waiting for. For the most part, I'm living in the moment with a grateful heart, regular meditation and excersise have replaced some of my bad habits, I am blissfully creating a home with my equal and loving partner. And so it is.

p.s. TWO hours and I get to leave for the weekend mountain party... Bringing my skis and skates but have the feeling the only 'sport' will be drinking. This will be the first time staying at the fancy schmancy hotel since my ~ahem~ honeymoon 12 years ago. Wow. Weird?

And a Bookworm in a Pear Tree

An e-mail was sent around my place of employment today (by the same lovely soul who started the baking exchange), inviting anyone who might be interested to bring books to lend out to the boardroom Friday at lunch, and 'be prepared to talk about them'.

This prompted a thorough sorting (and categorizing) of my newly-on-display collection of 4 shelves of literary goodness tonight in my study/meditation room. This is in fact the first time *ever* that I have had all of my books in one place, and space enough to put them all in an real bookshelf together. I have often thought about how the eclectic mix came to be, and if I would ever actually get around to reading them all. I had also had the recurring idea to start some kind of book club type of thing, or at least a review now and then (maybe even here).

Well, now I have the chance of sharing a bunch with my coworkers as well as with you, IIFs :) I've picked a dozen or so to bring in (and have artfully inscribed my name inside with my pink glitter pen), and would like to offer up 12 titles I have picked out for this arena. To make it fully interactive, I'd like you to vote on which one should be read/reviewed in which month of '07. Thanks in advance for your help :)

After reading through the titles, I have come to the conclusion that only one single one is fiction (and one of Oprah's picks, actually):

1. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
(winner of the nobel prize)

2. The Four Agreements Companion book by Don Miguel Ruiz

3. The Power of Now ~A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment~ by Eckhart Tolle

4. Spiritual Economics ~The Principles and Process of True Prosperity~ by Eric Butterworth
(the unfinished textbook for a course I took at CPL this fall)

5. A Woman's Worth by Marianne Williamson

6. Fragrant Sensuality ~Aromatics and Nature's Essential Oils~ Valerie Ann Worwood
(Aromatherapy is the theme for my homemade Christmas gifts this year)

7. Aus eigener Kraft ~Gesundsein und Gesundwerden in Harmonie mit Natur- und
Mondrhythmen~ Johanna Paungger & Thomas Poppe
(a German book about Moon Phases and Health)

8. The Voice of Knowledge ~a practical guide to inner peace~ by Don Miguel Ruiz

9. Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda
(Self Realization Fellowship Founder)

10. Feeling Good by David D. Burns, M.D.
('The New Mood Therapy' from PENN U, circa 1980)

11. The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman
(I vote February for this one)

12. 14 Day Herbal Cleansing by Laurel Vukovic
(I like to cleanse 2X/year, this book has great tips for purification techniques beyond just diet)

extra bonus (the bakers dozen version)

13. Strong Women Stay Slim by Miriam E. Nelson, Ph.D.
(to help support/inspire my thrice weekly weight training sessions at the gym)

Which one do I read first??

A sign

... this is my 421st post!

So I walk into my gym this weekend which has been undergoing some major renovations lately, and I'm greeted with the following sign:

"There may be a strong smell of glue throughout the club as the construction workers are putting the mats in. We apologize for any inconvenience."
That made for an interesting workout indeed.

Deck those halls

Have I mentioned how much I love firsts of the month? And Fridays? And Baileys in my Gingerbread Latte? Mmmm it's mixing nicely with my cold medication (teehee) as I try and fight off this cold once and for all to be in good shape for the upcoming partees. First up: my company's tomorrow evening, and we get to stay over in the fancy schmancy hotel across the street. Add staying in fancy schmancy hotels to my favorite lists.

Double that next weekend, when my love's company parties it up in an even fancier (schmancier, if that's a word) hotel in the mountains. Who knows, I may even get some skiing and ice skating in over the two days we're out there. Yes, I'm certainly thick into the holiday spirit this year... I have made my list but have yet to check it twice. There are 23 days left, bring on the baking shopping wrapping christmas card writing cheer!

diary of projects currently underway at my house*

(Or, how the house got clean and festive in twelve easy staps)

-how to attach mini christmas tree with fishing wire (yet to be located/purchased) to anchor it so that the cats don't knock it over
update: I used gold ribbon, it looks so festive!

- contemplating whether to put empty boxes in garage (to be picked up SOON) rather than in the basement
update: put em in the basement, who am I kidding with this 'soon' stuff?

- enjoying the whirring of the dishwasher as the new jumbo wine glasses, dozen water goblets and 12 each of the utulitarian dinner plates and soup bowls get all clean 'n sparkly for our feast
I heart IKEA. So much.

- transfering Mary's b-day card from the passenger seat of the car (where it sat patiently all day yesterday during my travels, awaiting a send off that never happened) to the front entrance, *two* houses away from the mailbox.
update: um, I think it's still there. Thank goodness for MSN, I got to wish her a happy b-day in 'real' time :)

- more enjoyment from the sipping of my fav warm beverage of the season (which sure could use some bailey's, hmmm)

- contemplating a quick jaunt two blocks to frequent the local liquor dispensers (which would take me right past the mail box...)
update: opted to stay home (and sober) (and warm) and get projects done

- move to a little Craig David & Jamiroquai to stretch out the stiffness in the muscles from upper body day at the gym

But I'm travelling, not moving as I get lost in my thoughts discovering and beginning new projects all over the whole house. Besides the moving boxes, new glass and flatware, and Christmas decoratin' happenin', there's also a multitude of cleaning/putting away and it's all blending nicely with the different thoughts that are floating through this warm-fuzzy-filled mind. Each room brings another... we have the great swap-out-the-tupperware-bits-that-have-no-matches (update: now known as the 'stand back and throw' cupboard) in the kitchen... then boom! Breakfast time hits.

I do get distracted easily, don't I? The multi-box of Unicef holiday cards lie on the counter, awaiting well wishes to be written and deliveries to be made (with my track record of getting mail *into* the mailbox, this may take until spring).
Something leads me to cleaning out under the bathroom sink, which logically leads to cleaning under the kitchen sink, which somehow leads to the wrapping of my nephews 2 month late birthday present (are we noticing a pattern here?) , which leads to even *more* decorating! See, I found a great solution for disguising the fugly brown glass 80's light fixtures throughout the place by hanging silver snowflakes and balls from them.

Then I decided I needed to get back to the cleaning... bathrooms (all three) and then finally putting away the pile of clothes on the bed, so I could make it! Whew!

All in all, a two and a half day project, but it was worth it in the end. The end.

*just in case you were wondering what I was doing with my 4 days off

me 'n Shiva

You know, for the amount that I actually do post, I spend a whole lotta time *thinking* about posting. It seems subject matter doesn't stick around long enough to be formulated into written paragraphs... It is floaty, fleeting, fast and then it's gone.

A few of the thoughts currently bubbling through my consciousness have to do with the holidays, how quickly they are approaching, how nice it will be to have my whole family as well as my love's parents over for dinner on Sunday. How the house will look after *finally* having a couple of solid days in a row to put it all together. How my sister's three boys will get along with the three cats (but since they have kitties at home as well this is not too much of a concern).

The clearing of the garage uncovered three MORE boxes for my study/meditiation room, just when I thought I had it all under control! However, as I explained to my bewildered Sweetie as the contents of the front and back closets lay all askew throughout the living room and den, chaos is normal and expected when combining households. Like Shiva, it must be destroyed in order to be rebuilt.

Maybe once the house is settled there will be more continuity here... In the meantime, fleeting and floaty it is.

HNT My Sistas

While I didn't exactly get Nekkid with my sisters yesterday, we had ourselves a lot of fun at this photo shoot. This is to be a Christmas gift for our Mom & Dad, the last one we did got a bit outdated (we were 16, 17 and 23 at the time).

ahhh da weekend

I could get used to this.

It's Sunday mid-day, and we've feasted on french toast and turkey bacon (yesterday it was pancakes), I'm sippin on my second cup of coffee 'n eggnogg and feel totally relaxed.

Whether it was ignoring the call from my catering boss, the grocery shop that filled the fridge, the shall we say 'tittilating' visit to the sex show, discovering the most delicious chinese food outside of china town being served just down the street... It has been the most delectable weekend in a very long time, and I look forward to more of the same for some time to come.

Off to tackle the rest of those boxes blocking my parking spot in the garage and to bake some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Yes, I must be happy :)

The scent of dreams coming true

"Today I rest in the peaceful stillness of God within me. I allow myself to be carried in the river of life, knowing without words that all is well with my soul."

-Daily meditation from the lovely people here

I love the shifts that are happening in my life this month. Finally getting settled in in an actual HOME, filling the fridge and cupboards with good, nutritious food, having a space all to myself for meditation and reflection. I find that as I sort through and unpack the many boxes that have followed me around since teenagehood, I am rediscovering all of my hopes, dreams and passions. Now I feel I am in the right time and space to concentrate on expanding my knowledge in these areas (mostly natural cooking and healing arts).

Tonight, I'm going to a seminar put on by these fine folks . Smell ya later :)

seven days two dogs one cat and one bird

Heading into what is going to be one of my last weekends looking after other peoples houses. It's time to look after my own! The house sitting thing worked well with my old, single lifestyle. I loved having a whole place to myself (especially the above ground part), perusing the bookshelves and cd racks to my hearts content. Walking the doggies and cuddling the kitties, the extra income helping me with the ever rising cost of living in this fair city.

It's a good transition time into cohabitating with my love. There was only that one moment of hesitation (dare I say fear?) that crept in about mid month last month. Since then, I have been embracing this new step, and have now moved into impatience for my duties to finally end. I want to unpack ALL my clothes into my first ever walk-in closet. Arrange the kitchen gadgets (and boy, did he ever some with some *fancy* ones!) into the many many cupboards. Set up my study/meditation room, exatly the way I want it. One more week and our new journey will begin, for real.

double V

I think my horoscope prediction is starting to kick in. A better sleep really changes your whole outlook on things, doesn't it? Plus the anticipation of seeing the love of my life after two (TWO) whole days without him.

There's something about fall that makes me want to listen to Simon & Garfunkel and jump in piles of leaves. I may just go and do that.

biker-chick-in-training

Vigor and vitality are yours for the week.

So says my fortune cookie today.

Sure not feeling it so far... In fact I'm pretty darn exhausted and sore from the weekends activities. I had a post all ready to go Sunday night but the silly wi-fi I was connected with (thanks, neighbours!) wouldn't let me sign in. Sigh.

I was all positive and self congratulatory for having completed the course (and having learned how to ride a motorcycle), trying to look past the devistating blow of not passing the actual test. What can I say? I got silly nervous as soon as the testers showed up. But I have a chance to retake it on Sunday, so hopefully the aforementioned Vigor and Vitality will be fully functioning for me by then. Till then: massage, yoga, tibetan bowls, abundance training, and time with cuddly (four legged) pals.

This is it. My motorcycle course starts in one hour. May the angels be with me... by Sunday night I *should* have my license. Wheeeee!!!

Gettin' to know you...

In an effort to aquaint us all with each other at work (we have grown by about 50 people in the past year), they have decided to put up an intranet site with profiles, and gave us a list of questions to answer as we wished. Here are the ones I chose to answer.

1. How do you order your favourite hot beverage?

I really like the pumpkin and gingerbread spiced lattes this time of year, but my absolute favorite is a mocha with a shot of cinnamon syrup (mochas from Cafe Beano are the BEST). I also quite like a soy chai now and then.

2. What do have hanging on your walls at home?

Just moved last weekend, so we're still working on that! Our first piece of 'real' artwork is currently being framed, it's a black and white shot of the ocean, entitled 'Californication' by photographer extraordinaire and friend of the family Brenda Castonguay

3. Which website do you visit every day?

www.flickr.com I love seeing the new works by extremely talented co-workers such as plusoumoins and uberllama and posting my own amateurish ones to stay in touch with family and friends near & far.

4. If you could have lunch with one person living or dead, who would it be and what would you want to talk about?

Oh, it would have to be a dinner party, attended by Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Ernest Holmes, Dr. Masaru Emoto, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thich Nhat Hanh and his holiness the Dalai Lama. The topic of conversation would be positive thinking, energy, compassion, world peace and quantum physics.

5. If you could be anywhere else in the world right now, where would you be?

Somewhere tropical, like Fiji, the Caribbean, or Hawaii. Ocean, beach, warm breeze, lots of stars at night and no traffic/city noise or pollution.

How about you?

I dwell in love

The move is complete, we have made a sucessful merger! Just in time, too, as the fluffy white stuff is currently falling en masse from the light grey sky. I would *much* rather be at HOME today, doing some unpacking & settling in, but unforunately my time-off hours are in the minus, so here I am. Plotting furniture placement and watching the snowflakes drift by. My heart is light and my mind is at ease. As the Mama said as she departed yesterday, this is the happiest she has ever seen me. And so it is.

Today's (very appropriate) affirmation from CPL:

"I live in a loving universe, where God’s friendliness is on every hand. Divine love enfolds me and flows from me. I love the love of God in everyone I know. I am loved by the love of God in everyone I know. I dwell in love this day. "

HNT - Smiling eyes

These were my eyes before I ceased using the liquid liner about a month ago (went to have a makeup lesson and apprently this look is NOT 'in' any longer). I love pics where you can tell the person is smiling without seeing the rest of their face. If I end up getting wrinkles around the corners, so be it- it just means I'm happy a lot. Happy HNT, y'all!

New Digs

I searched for about two hours to find the perfect ecard announcement to send out to friends and family, letting them know that my bf and I are "shacking up". This one from hipstercards.com came in a close second, but it doesn't let you format the text at all...

But then, at last, I found this cute little animated one from evite, where all of my contacts are stored anyway. Yay! It shows a truck stopping at this row of houses, loading up, and driving up to a lone house on a hill. That's kind of what it feels like- up up and away! From the downtown core, to more room (4 times the square footage!), more space to breathe. A whole huge house for us and the kitties to roam around in and make our home. Three more sleeps...

Please make a stand today!

I have just read some very disturbing news on a blog that I linked to named Eteraz.

Please take a minute or two out of your day to do the following:

- Sign these two petitions which refer to the two of the seven women sentenced. Activists in the US have gotten personal confirmation that Iranian officials were influenced by petitions when they previously ordered stays of executions. The first is for a woman named Kobra. The second is for a woman named Malak.

- Submit the following letter (or something like it) to the Supreme Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khameini at his email address (info@leader.ir OR istiftaa@wilayah.org):

Your Excellency,

May this reach you in the best of health and faith. On this day I beseech you to direct your attention to the fates of seven women of your nation who are to be executed by sangsar (stoning to death). I ask simply that you commute their sentences and disallow the use of the punishment of stoning to death in the future. Indeed, you must be aware that in 2002 your government placed a moratorium on the practice. Indeed, you must also be aware that the United Nations, which provided President Ahmedinejad the opportunity to promote the Iranian nation as one which is just and fair, has ruled that treating fornication and adultery as criminal offenses violates human rights laws. In fact, stoning these women to death would breach Iran’s committment under article 6(2) of the International Covenent on Civil and Political Rights. Indeed, you must be aware, as the Vilayet e Faqih, that the Quran extols “God is the Forgiving, the Loving.” (85:14). Indeed, you must be aware, as the Foremost Jurist, that the punishment for stoning to death does not exist in the Quran and is part of the Shariah via a hadith cited on the authority of Omar, the second Caliph. Iran is a great nation and many in the West wish for friendly and peaceful relationships with it, and the Muslim world at large, as equals. However, we as friends of the Iranian People do not wish the Nation of Iran of to violate the human rights norms with which the rest of the world abides. We ask that you not permit your citizens to be stoned to death. We further ask that you call for a halt for all future stonings. Finally, we ask that you grant your Minister of Justice, His Excellency, Ayatollah Shahroudi, the power to commute death sentences to life imprisonment.

You may also modify your letter to “Further…” ask him to treat minorities equal under the law, and to provide equality of rights for women, as in Iran a woman’s testimony counts only half as much as man’s.

- CC this message to the ambassador of Iran in London, His Excellency Mr. Hamid Reza Nafez Arefi: consulate@iran-embassy.org.uk

- Go to this website — of the Ministry of Justice in Iran — and paste this letter into the text area. The website is in Farsi but you can type in English. The first box is for your name; second box for your email address; third box for the subject; and fourth big box for the text. The Minister of Justice is His Excellency Ayatollah Shahroudi.

Your Excellency,

May this reach you in the best of health and faith. On this day I beseech you to direct your attention to the fates of seven women of your nation who are to be executed by sangsar (stoning to death). I ask simply that you commute their sentences. I also ask that you indefinitely postpone the executions of these women and others like them.

HNT - My sister rocks!

I *heart* this pic of my sis, and her Nekkid strong arms. She is one of the world's BEST dog groomers, and this just shows so well how focused she is on her work (and her buffness).

The Meaning of Love

Both light and shadow
are the dance of Love.
Love has no cause;
it is the astrolabe of God’s secrets.
Lover and Loving are inseparable
and timeless.

Although I may try to describe Love
when I experience it I am speechless.
Although I may try to write about Love
I am rendered helpless;
my pen breaks and the paper slips away
at the ineffable place
where Lover, Loving and Loved are one.

Every moment is made glorious
by the light of Love.

Six months ago today I began this journey into the greatest love of my life. Never before have I been this happy or felt this blessed. I am humbled that the Universe chose to give me another chance at this and feel I am being richly rewarded for the years that I muddled through the crap.

Life is so incredibly good and it just keeps getting better. I am joyous and excited at what it will bring next, and determined to stay as much as I can in the present to savor every moment. Be absolutely grateful for it. It is wondrous, delicious, magical this soft place to land I have discovered. I feel like the luckiest girl alive and yet I *know* that luck has nothing to do with it.

As Rumi writes, it is so very difficult to try and describe. It's better just to go forth and let that light shine!

lumps and bumps

Is it possible that something as insignificant as a pair of tights that don't fit properly can completely drive you around the bend??? I guess it is when the wearer of said tights hasn't had any SUGAR in the past two weeks. And breathe. Seriously- I must have picked up maternity ones by accident, these don't have elephant knees, they have elephant tummy and I don't have the *bump* it would take to hold 'em up!

Yes, this is a post about pantyhose. And ice cream. I had some serious cravings for it (or gelato) over the weekend, it almost got out of control. I even dreamt about it last night- I got a cone with 5 that's FIVE scoops! Now THAT would probably drive me around the bend. The end.
